Shoshanna

Shoshanna is a Middle Eastern Dance artist from Arcata, on California's Northern Redwood Coast who is known for her artful presentation and expressive lyrical style. She frequently performs and teaches workshops across the country in which she works with students to cultivate excellent technique and a passion for the dance. In Arcata, Shoshanna teaches at the Studio of dance Arts, has been a member of the Humboldt State University dance faculty since 1998, and directs her troupe, The Lailaa Chandani Dance Ensemble.

In May of 2004, Shoshanna competed in and won the respected Belly Dancer of the Year competition. She has also appeared in the Fourth Annual IAMED Awards Show in 2000 and the Little Egypt's Dina in Los Angeles in 2004. Shoshanna's extensive dance background in Ballet and Modern dance contribute to the powerful presence and musical sensitivity that she brings to the stage in any performance.

This year, Habibi Hawaii 2005 proudly welcomes Shoshanna as our celebrated guest instructor. She will be offering two exclusive workshops to add drama and technique to your belly dancing:

The Dazzling Art of the Four Yard Veil
Learn to amaze your audiences with the powerful, dramatic art of the four yard veil through techniques and combinations designed to help you interact with your lightweight silk veil as an extension of your body. While the material will be challenging, dancers of all levels are welcome. If you can conquer the four yard veil, you can dance with any veil with ease and grace! Handouts will be provided, and some veils will be available for sale.

Techniques & Combinations
In this energetic class be ready for tricky techniques and dynamic combinations that will challenge experienced dancers but not leave newer dancers in the dust. Combinations will highlight Shoshanna's signature dramatic style and will offer you was to heighten the drama in your performance.
